The Guelph Food Safety Seminars series and annual symposium began in 2004 to provide a forum in which to share timely and pertinent food safety topics. There is no fee to attend, food safety topics 2020 but registration is required. Participants can register for one or multiple sessions. To bring together people from the Guelph Food Safety Network and others who are interested in the risk management approach to food quality and safety, in order to learn more about these topics, discuss issues of common interest and broaden networks. At the risk of COVID fatigue, it is the inevitable topic for 2020. In addition to the tragic loss of lives, SARS-CoV-2 has had an immense impact on our way of life. In what ways have the new protocols, routines and behaviours led to unintended consequences? Did the hoarding of food supplies at the onset create a surplus of spoiled food in people’s pantries? Are extensive disinfecting practices making us safer food handlers? This year’s Symposium—composed of a series of seminars—will focus on valuable lessons learned and ongoing challenges related to food safety during a pandemic. food safety issues articles
